The M4 Sherman was the most famous US tank in WW2 and shortly after. With almost fifty thousand produced, it was the second most produced tank of the war. It was also supplied to US allies. At the time of the first battles, the Sherman was successful against all enemy tanks, but could not compete with the enemy's heaviest tanks. Nevertheless, its importance for the victory of the Allies is absolutely crucial, together with the T-34 tank on the side of the USSR.
